BUSINESS MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME

Why this programme?

Our Business Management Programme is designed to enrich high-potential leaders with functional business skills, enabling them to implement these best practices and strategies effectively within both commercial and non-profit organisations.

Target Audience

Persons who wish to embark on a management career and who need to acquire the necessary leadership and functional competence to
facilitate this transition.

Admission Requirements

Applicants should have first year post Matric / NQF Level 5 or equivalent qualification plus two years' work experience. Applicants will be required to go through a selection process. RPL can be considered during the application process.

Duration

One year, part-time studies. There are two in-takes annually – one at the beginning of the year and one mid-year.

Policy for Credits (Module Exemption)

Students must apply for module credits on registration, accompanied by proof that the relevant credit application fee was paid; a certified copy
of the relevant qualification and full programme outline/outcomes from the institution that offered the programme. No module credits will be awarded after the start of a learning programme and for modules completed more than five (5) years ago unless the student has been actively working within the specific field for which the credit is applied for. A portfolio of evidence to support credit application will also be accepted.

Assessment

Students will complete formative assessments which may include classroom activities such as role plays, group discussions and reflective
tasks as well as summative work-based assessments which may include tests, presentations, and individual or group assignments. At the end of the programme students will be expected to submit a Portfolio of Evidence.

Pass Mark

80% attendance per module is required failing which a student will have to repeat the module at 50% of the current module fee in order to be
assessed. The minimum pass mark for each module is 50%. Any student receiving 40% to 49% will have the opportunity of submitting a supplementary assignment. Students receiving below 40% will need to repeat the module at the cost of 50% of the current module fee

Certification

Students who successfully complete the programme will receive a Nelson Mandela University Certificate of Compliance and credits onto
stipulated learning programmes.

Programme Accreditation and Articulation

On successful completion of the BMP, credits are awarded onto our sought after Management Development Programme (MDP). This
programme is registered within the Nelson Mandela University and rigorously quality assured by the Nelson Mandela University Faculty of
Business & Economic Sciences.

The Nelson Mandela University holds formal institutional accreditation with the Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC) of the Council on Higher Education (CHE). A portion of the programme fees can be claimed against the company’s Workplace Skills Plan (WSP). Upon successful completion of the MDP, credits are awarded onto the Diploma (Management) via a RPL process and subject to meeting the admission requirements of this programme.
